Sanctuary House, Crestone Colorado

Here at Sanctuary House we decided on a 33' diameter Growing Dome in order to provide food and medicinal herbs to our small community

Foundation work was started in January 2003. The dome was erected in 3 days by a small crew and Nick (supervisor from Growing Spaces) on the 17th of April.

The beds were then built using airblock (lightweight aerated concrete block)

On May 3rd we had a Permaculture workshop with Jerome from Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute who demonstrated the type of plants that would grow well and their preferred location

Nov, 24 2003, Winter is upon us and the garden is doing well, most plants are still growing even the artichoke, some that touch the glazing have frozen and have had to be trimmed back. Temp inside dome has gone from 38 at 9am to 80 at 12:30pm

March 2, 2005 I just checked on this Growing Dome and its doing well although there appears to be less interest by the new owners, most the things Pamela planted servived the winter and are doing well.
